"Tales from the Tribe" by Aaron Luse (Class of 1995) Now Available
Siouxland Christian School is a school that purposely places an emphasis on missions. Our high school students, having served in areas of need throughout the United States to include San Francisco and Miami, are going to Boston this year. Our desire is that the student body will make an impact for Christ both locally and globally and that God may raise up missionaries from among them to take His gospel to the ends of the earth. This has been our goal for a long time.
In 1993, between his sophomore and junior years at Siouxland Christian, Aaron Luse went to Papua New Guinea on a short-term missions trip. That fall he was able to report back to the student body the things he had seen and been challenged to do. In 1996, Lori Dollar, a fellow student at Siouxland Christian School did the same. In 1997, after both of them graduated, they were married and pursued missions training together to become equipped to minister among the least reached people groups of the world.
They have just returned to Iowa from Papua New Guinea, where they have been working for the last 16 years serving in the Patpatar Tribe through literacy, translation, Bible teaching, church planting, and discipleship. This year their four daughters Avalon (11th), Sierra (9th), Kylee (5th), and Briella (K-5) are students at SCS.
Last month Aaron published and released a book that he wrote called, Tales from the Tribe. It is a fascinating collection of incredible true stories from their time in the Patpatar Tribe about strange customs, exotic animals, and humorous situations that come to life from the jungle to your home. You will be able to see, feel, and even taste what it’s like to be a missionary living in a tribal village. But more than that, Tales from the Tribe is a journey of learning more about missions with daily devotions that take a close look at the lessons, insights, and challenges found in God's Word and their relevance for each of us today. You will be encouraged to make a difference on your side of the world and maybe on the other side as well.
As alumni and in support of Siouxland Christian, Aaron and Lori want to and make this book available to the families of SCS for a reduced price. The hardcover book retails online and in bookstores for $22.50, but is available through SCS for $15 with the proceeds going to SCS. Not only are they serving on the mission field, but still giving back to SCS as well.
